Eco-Shopping Concerns

Eco-conscious shopping trends are on the rise and DCO is proud to be at the forefront of this new issue. While we are learning to develop "greener" healthier lifestyle practices be sure to not just question is it organic but also, "where did the raw materials of this product orginate??" You might be surprised by the answer....

In the case of DCO products, we source ingredients from all over the world. Many of our raw materials are indigenous to certain geographical areas. We source our lavendar from France, patchouli from India and shea butter from Africa. However whenever possible we elect to source other raw materials as close to home as possible such as supporting US farmers and beekeepers for beeswax and soy. In addition our peppermint, spearmint, lemongrass, orange, lime and sunflower essential oils are all sourced in the USA. By sourcing materials close to home we are reducing the size of your carbon foot print and adding further benefits to the sustainability of our award winning products.

Please aid us keeping a small carbon footprint and stop by 831 Adams Avenue, Scr. PA 18503 where we walk the organic product through production to the showroom floor and giving you the freshest and greenest products Scranton has to offer.

Clean your conscience and your toes with Danielle and Company! Lathering up never felt this good! ~

Green Beer!

So I have to admit, I am not a beer drinker. I am more of a mixed drink kinda gal. But I must say I am obsessed with beer, particularly micro or craft-brews. It is not so much the beer itself, my fiancee does the taste tasting, I am fascinated with the branding and manufacturing of beer. I am a factory junkie and love seeing how things are made. I also love to see how formulas are created and from there, how they name and brand their beer. So in the spirit of beer lovin', have some GREEN beer this St. Patty's day!
Now I don't mean the dyed green beer, but the eco-friendly and organic beer! There are a few of them that are top notch. And if you can't find them, support your local breweries!
So be careful, be safe and drink GREEN beer!

A Week in NYC

Many people ask the question, "how do you get your products in other stores?" Well there are many ways, from someone requesting information via our website, to someone calling in a placing an order. But perhaps the best way is to exhibit at a tradeshow. Tradeshows are for buyers only and are held in large convention centers. One of the largest tradeshows in the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) in New York City. It is held twice a year at the Javits Center. So here is a little bit about our experience with tradeshows throughout the years!

Tradeshows are an amazing experience. I remember my first time attending one as a buyer in 2004. There are tons of people, lots of orders being taken and so many sights and sounds to take in. 2005 was the first time I exhibited at the NYIGF and here is a picture of my first booth!

I was so excited to be at my first show! Over the past 5 years, we have exhibited at many shows and they are a ton of fun! Logistically they are always somewhat of a challenge and they are very long days, but in the end, they are well worth it! Here is a photo of our booth at the Expo East 2008, the largest natural and organic tradeshow on the East Coast!

And here is our latest booth at the NYIGF in January 2009. Our first corner booth!

As I said before, they are so exciting! There are lots of people buzzing around, about 30,000 buyers are at this show. You get to catch up with you customers and make new ones. And for me, it allows my dad and I to spend some quality time together, which is always great! We do the shows together and sometimes my mom and fiancee come along too! And if you are lucky, you come home with some awards! Here we are accepting some awards!

2008 Best In Show~~~~~~2007 Best New Product in Organics

But perhaps the most inspiring part of a tradeshow is the passion we all have for our brands. You can see passion in the eyes of the creators, you can see innovation and creativity beyond your imgination and you can see how much we love what we do!

So I ask this: what is your passion? What inspires you? What do you love?
Let me know, I am all ears!

Welcome To My Blog.

After much gentle nudging by my great intern, Armond, I am happy to announce the new blog of Danielle and Company! I am intrigued by a “blog”; what it is, how it operates. I have spent quite a considerable amount of time thinking and pondering my very first blog entry. “What should I write about” I ask myself. “How personal or professional should I be?” And after much consideration I will make my first blog entry about this very experience.

I am not a blogger, I admit it. I don’t really get into reading them, but I do find the concept of blogging to be fascinating. An “online journal” is how most people described it to me. So I thought to myself about when I was a teenager and I had an actual diary that I would write in and it had a lock on it, with a combination! I guarded that diary with my life! I would hide it in different places each night and kept the combination well hidden under my bed. I once thought the woman who cleaned my house had taken it and I was sure it was the end of the world! Fast forward to the present and here we are “journaling” to the whole world in a blog! As I typically say at the office, “what is that about?”

So now I am convinced by my intern and design firm, Blackout Design, that I must do a blog. I am okay with it, somewhat nervous and somewhat excited. I wonder who will read it, or will anyone read it? I also wonder what I will talk about. I have read other blogs for referencing and overall I want my blog to give you an inside look into who I am as a person and the founder of Danielle and Company. I want this to be like a conversation between me and my readers. I plan to share with you the philosophies of my company and why they are important to me. The purpose of this blog will be for you to get to know me on a more personal level and to experience Danielle and Company firsthand. We have an absolutely awesome company with great people, great products and great ideas! I am very proud of all of us here and hope to share that with you!

Lastly I welcome your feedback; good, bad or indifferent. I am an honest person and will give you honest answers. What do you want to know about the company, about the people, about me? What do you want me to talk about? Send me an e-mail at blog@danielleandcompany.com and I will be happy to respond to your questions!

So I hope you enjoyed reading my first entry, It was actually a fun experience to write! My next topic will be about the New York International Gift Fair, which we exhibited at last week! Stay tuned!
